EDUC 215 - Differentiated Instructional Practices

(3 credits)
This course is an introduction to the conceptual framework of differentiated instruction.  Students will explore learner differences and will identify research based interventions that help diverse learners succeed in the classroom. The use of graphic organizers, learning strategies and other methods of scaffolding instruction will be addressed. Students will demonstrate understanding of key concepts such as flexible grouping, formative assessment and Universal Design for Learning.   The Understanding by Design framework will be used to facilitate investigation of the PDE Standard Aligned System, with a special focus on Big Ideas and Essential Questions.  Students will complete four hours of field experience in an educational setting.
