EDUC 349 - Accommodating Diverse Learners in the Curriculum

(3 credits)
Will focus on the diverse learning needs of all children including second language learners and students with disabilities in grades pre k-grade 4, middle school and in high school. Factors that have influenced the diversity of learners in our schools; collaborative strategies; and instructional, curricular and assessment accommodations for all learners will be emphasized. Included in this course is consideration of the needs of ELL students and students with disabilities as well as those children who come from diverse backgrounds. Clinical experiences will be provided in Head Start, pre k classrooms, elementary schools and in high schools. This course is required of all instructional and educational specialist programs and partially fulfills the PDE guidelines for Accommodations and Adaptations for Students with Disabilities in an Inclusive Setting and Meeting the Needs of English Language Learners. Prerequisites: EDUC 101 , EDUC 210 , and EDUC 212 . Spring. Students will be assigned twelve hours of clinical experience in an area school or educational setting.
