The Cyber Security Administration minor is a blended program and is delivered to students online. It is available for any student, but is particularly advantageous for students in Computer Science, MIS and Management majors who are also interested in information security or infrastructure protection positions in the government, private industry, or those just wanting to gain an understanding about how present local, national and world events and actions in cyber security can impact their future.
The Cyber Security Administration minor prepares students to:
- gain immediate local, federal, national and global awareness of how they can exercise strategic leadership and critical thinking in the development and use of cyber security strategies, plans, policies, enabling technologies and procedures in cyberspace.
- design and lead programs to provide cyber security, security awareness training, risk analysis, security incident management, continuity of operations and disaster recovery.
- bridge people, processes, information and technology to critical cyber mission decisions to share information in a secure environment.
- manage and lead, in accordance with laws and regulations, an enterprise information security program that promotes and attains national security, agency, and inter-agency goals.
It is a source of information security education for those having a desire to lead and serve across the spectrum in support of IT, their staffs, and cyber security managers. This minor provides advanced education to respond to the requirements set forth in the Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA) and requirements for secure use of national security information systems set by the Committee for National Security Systems (CNSS).
