PT 720 - Patient Management 7 - Geriatrics (2 credit) The Guide to Physical Therapist Practice will provide the framework for Patient Management. This course will focus on the promotion of health, safety, and movement management for patients through the adult lifespan including end-of-life care. Learning experiences will prepare the student to produce multidimensional evaluation and assessment approaches in patient care. Students will implement effective treatment plans, coordinate appropriate interdisciplinary communication, and deliver patient education through simulated/actual patient visits. This course will prepare students to facilitate caregiver training. Activities and assignments will serve to advocate for the needs of older adults in the current healthcare system on an individual, institutional, and societal level as pertaining to functional movement and quality of life. The laboratory component will enable students to develop skill in patient examination and therapeutic interventions through case studies, and patient-therapist experiences (simulated/actual). Summer.
