EDUC 580 - Special Education Field and Seminar (3 credits) This course is designed to provide student teachers with the opportunity for extensive practice in the application of teaching competencies in special education settings in a supervised clinical experience in schools. Regular meetings among student teachers involve critical analysis and discussion of classroom instructional practices, as illustrated by the student teachers’ experiences in the schools. Practical mentoring on professionalism, applying differentiated instructional models in real-world settings, and aligning instruction with standards will be addressed. EDUC580 is only required if the candidate has an Instructional I certification in another content area (e.g., elementary, middle school, secondary).and has successfully completed a student teaching experience. Candidates that do not have an Instructional I certification are required to complete EDUC 501 Student Teaching Experience (12 credits).
