DOL 713 - Innovation Theory and Practice in a Global Economy (3 credits) In this course students will examine several theories of innovation including diffusion of innovation, disruptive innovation and other practices used by leaders and organizations. For an organization to grow and evolve, you must develop a company culture that promotes risk taking, collaboration, change and speed. In this course, students will learn how to implement processes and strategies to build and reinforce these values. Through research and case studies students will identify the role of leaders in shaping innovation and how managerial competencies affect the innovativeness of their organization. Students will also consider a multitude of organizational issues including business and technology strategy, structures, changing culture, incentives, processes, human resource competencies and executive team characteristics that are associated with successful strategic innovation. Spring.
