DOL 807 - Applied Leadership Practicum

(3 credits)
The leadership and innovation practicum is designed to give the student an opportunity to practice the skills and competencies they have learned in the program with their organization. The practicum will further the student’s understanding of organizational development, behavior, leadership, and innovation. Students must choose a topic area that relates to the program and approved by the professor. The student will apply their knowledge to a specific area of their organization in coordination with their human resources department and/or leadership to practice the role of executive leadership, strategic development, innovation, and diversity and inclusion or other related topics. An agreement between the student’s organization and the student must be submitted to the faculty member of this course outlining the experience the student will be involved with at their organization. The minimum number of hours to be applied to this practicum will be 40 hours over a 6-week period. At the conclusion of the practicum, the student will produce a reflection document of their experience and what they accomplished and learned during the practicum. If the student is not able to secure an agreement with their organization the professor will work with the student to develop comparable experience to meet this requirement. Fall, Spring, or Summer.
