ENGR 425 - Advanced Heat Transfer and Fluid Mechanics
(3 credits)More detailed study of phenomena in fluid mechanics and heat transfer, covering topics that are not limited to and may include the following: subsonic flow modeling (potential flow over 2D and 3D bodies); linearized supersonic flow (nozzles, shockwaves); conductive heat transfer; convective heat and mass transfer (boundary layer theory); radiative heat transfer (derivation of electromagnetic equations); and multiphase heat transfer (boiling/condensation). Lecture-recitation. Prerequisite(s): ENGR 375. As needed.
