FNP 603 - Advanced Physical Assessment and Differential Diagnosis

This is the last in the sequence of the “3 P” courses (Pathophysiology, Pharmacology, and Physical Assessment) prior to beginning the clinical management courses in the Family (Individual across the Lifespan) Nurse Practitioner Track of the MSN Program. In this course, students develop and refine skills in diagnostic reasoning as well as performing, evaluating, presenting, and recording a history and physical examination. Students learn to differentiate among normal, variations of normal, and abnormal findings in the clinical evaluation of patients across the lifespan with common health problems encountered in primary health care settings. This course includes 3 credits of theory and 1 clinical credit (1 clinical credit equals 5 clock hours times 15 weeks in the semester for a total of 75 clinical clock hours in this course). The 75 clinical hours in this course includes a required 3-day campus laboratory residency (24 clock hours) as well as required hours with a preceptor (51 clock hours).
