EDUC 406 - Positive Behavioral Interventions in an Inclusive Setting(3 credits) This course recognizes that behavior difficulties can keep students from functioning productively in the classroom. Course focuses on establishing good classroom management, applying discipline in an effective and consistent manner, identifying special needs associated with disability and/or needs of ELL students with differing cultural backgrounds and meeting the needs of all learners in the classroom so that instruction is not impeded. This also includes characteristics of disabilities that relate to behavior problems, various methods of assessment inside and outside of the classroom and with a Multidisciplinary Team, the general principles of applied behavior analysis, and proactive/preventative interventions to support all students experiencing emotional and/or behavioral difficulties. The course will emphasize developmentally appropriate practice for Pre K through 4th grade students. Behavioral interventions include the use of school-wide, classroom and individual strategies. Prerequisites: EDUC 101 , EDUC 210 and EDUC 212 and EDUC 402 .Fall.
