HIST 259 - The Natural World

(3 credits)
This course will survey the history of the way that humanity has responded and related to the natural and non-human world. This course will focus primarily upon modern Western history, but will also integrate a broader, global perspective. In this course, students will learn how humans throughout history have affected the natural environment, and how the natural environment has affected human history. In addition, students will learn about how humans, particularly in modern, Western society and culture, have represented and responded to environmental changes and threats to the natural environment.Fall even numbered years.
