HIST 410 - Moral Panics in History (3 credits) This class examines episodes of moral panic in history, exploring moments such as witch trials, the Red Scares, the War on Drugs, and other contemporary conflicts when fear and anxiety have shaped public discourse and policy. This course is a seminar-style class; student participation is expected and required. Students will read primary and secondary sources and complete a variety of writing assignments, including a research project. Spring, odd numbered years.
