AVI 101 - Introduction to the Aviation Industry

(3 credits)
This foundational course provides students with a comprehensive overview of the aviation industry and its various career paths. Students will explore the history of aviation, current industry structure, major sectors including commercial airlines, general aviation, cargo operations, airports, air traffic control, aircraft manufacturing, and maintenance. The course examines aviation’s role in the global economy, emerging technologies, sustainability initiatives, and future trends. Students will gain understanding of professional opportunities within aviation while developing foundational knowledge essential for success in aviation degree programs. Field trips to aviation facilities and guest speakers from industry professionals enhance the learning experience.
