Principles of unit process engineering. Emphasis is placed on the sizing of unit processes and the operation of the units when combined into a system. Applications include water and wastewater treatment with a focus on conventional water and wastewater treatment designs and introduction of novel treatment technologies. The context for the course is founded in the regulatory structures and societal expectations that govern water and wastewater treatment goals. Computational tools will be used to complete a significant design project. Prerequisites: ENVE 314 - Fundamentals of Environmental Engineering: Chemistry, Fate, and Transport Processes OR both ENVE 311 - Fundamentals of Environmental Engineering I: Aquatic and Atmospheric Chemistry andENVE 312 - Fundamentals of Environmental Engineering II: Transport Processes As needed.
