PUBH 101 - Introduction to Public Health (3 credits) This formative course serves as an overview of public health and is the initial book-end course in the major. This course is designed to give the learner the principles of population health, history, health professions, acute care institutions and public health systems, tools of public health, health informatics, preventing disease and disability, finding reliable data, basic statistical measures used in public health, social and behavioral factors, environmental issues, medical care, and the future of public health. Students will discuss the impacts of current issues in public health and study the impacts of healthcare reform. Fall and Spring.
