Return to: Programs of Study
The Exercise Physiology to Doctor of Physical Therapy 3+3 program is available to accepted Physical Therapy majors only. The program allows those Physical Therapy majors who desire to have a stronger background in the science of exercise, the ability to pursue that interest and obtain a Bachelor of Science Degree in Exercise Physiology as the undergraduate degree, and then to continue to obtain the Doctor of Physical Therapy degree. The program is an accelerated program to be completed in 6 years, and the paradigm requires the student to complete BIOL 205 and BIOL 206 prior to the start of the sophomore year so that the required exercise physiology courses can move up a full year. The student would then take EXPH 305 in the sophomore year rather than in the junior year. Additionally, the student is required to complete an exercise physiology internship, which occurs in the spring semester of the junior year, as it must be completed before the student begins the professional physical therapy curriculum.
