Program Description

Studies of sociological perspectives focus on a variety of social issues such as gender, race, classes, family, environment and public health. This unique program prepares students for graduate studies and job placement in areas such as administration and social service agencies.

Student Learning Outcomes

  1. Understand and conceptualize, analyze, and theorize the nature of crime, order, security, and justice issues in U.S. society as well as the world.
  2. Acquire the knowledge, skills, and perspectives to prepare for a careers in law, juvenile justice, law enforcement and security, criminal justice administration, forensic investigation, and corrections.
  3. Develop the necessary higher-order competencies of successful practitioners in the Criminal Justice field by way of critical and analytical thinking, decision making, communication capabilities, ethical behavior, and demonstrating compassion and professional presence.
