The interdisciplinary Women’s Studies major is an opportunity for students to pursue their interests in diversity and to consider issues of social/political difference. Providing a concentrated area of study, the Women’s Studies major is a good choice of a second major for those contemplating careers in business, law, medicine, social work, or other human services professions.  The Women’s Studies major consists of a total of 42 credits, 30 required credits and 12 elective credits, to be chosen from the SKILLS, KNOWELDGE, and VALUES options listed below.

Student Learning Outcomes:
  • Through the SKILLS courses, students will learn the skills necessary for the consideration of women’s roles and positions in society.
  • Through the KNOWLEDGE courses, students will gain a broader knowledge of the various foundational aspects of women’s roles and positions in society.
  • Through the VALUES courses, students will learn to value the various contributions, roles, and positions of women in society.

Students in the Bachelor of Arts in Women’s Studies program are required to complete a capstone (CORE 407 or its equivalent) in a course emphasizing women’s issues or issues of gender equity to graduate from this program. Approval of the Women’s Studies program director is required. (See Dr. Cadwallader)
