Creative Writing Minor

The Creative Writing minor cultivates students’ appreciation of and ability to compose creative texts in different genres (including, but not limited to, short fiction, poetry, plays, and novels) for a variety of audiences, purposes, and contexts.

Students who complete the Creative Writing minor will be able to identify distinct characteristics of different creative genres; demonstrate their understanding of and ability to emulate and deviate from these characteristics in their creative compositions; and prepare, through meticulous revision, editing, and proofreading, such compositions for potential audiences and publication venues.

Minor Requirements: (15 credits)

Fifteen credits from the following courses; at least three credits must come from courses at or above the 300 level, with no more than three credits from research/internship/independent study.
