Program Description
The Writing minor fosters students’ ability to communicate effectively in written and digital formats for various audiences, media, and rhetorical situations.
Student Learning Outcomes
Students who complete the Writing minor will be able to do the following:
- demonstrate their understanding of the four aims of discourse (to inform, to express, to entertain, and to persuade);
- demonstrate their awareness of and ability to emulate (and appropriately deviate from) the stylistic and disciplinary conventions of different genres; and
- prepare, through substantial revision, editing, and proofreading, various texts for critical review and public dissemination.

Minor Requirements:
Fifteen credits from among the following courses; at least three credits must come from courses at or above the 300 level. Twelve credits must be WRIT, with no more than three credits from research, internship, or independent study.
