Chemistry, B.A. Duquesne 3 + 4 Pre-Pharmacy Concentration

Program Description:

The Chemistry major follows a curriculum that helps students acquire a strong foundation in basic concepts and principles of modern chemistry while gaining an appreciation of chemistry’s central role in society. All courses are taught and all research is facilitated by faculty members who are generous with their time and knowledge. Students can expect individual attention in their small lecture and laboratory classes. Course work is designed to help students develop critical thinking, problem-solving, laboratory, computer, data acquisition and analysis, and research skills needed to be successful in their future endeavors. The Duquesne University Pre-Pharmacy Concentration meets the demands of students who plan to supplement the bachelor’s degree by enrolling in the Duquesne University Mylan School of Pharmacy.

After completing three years at Saint Francis University and a successful year at Duquesne University Mylan School of Pharmacy, the student is awarded a B.A. from Saint Francis University in Chemistry. The conferral of the Doctor of Pharmacy degree occurs after successful completion of all coursework at Duquesne University and by recommendation of Duquesne University Mylan School of Pharmacy.

Admission Requirements:

Requirements for admission and other details of the “3+4” Program in Pharmacy are described in the Affiliation Agreement between Duquesne University Mylan School of Pharmacy and Saint Francis University.

Estimated Completion Time:

Three years of full-time study at Saint Francis University plus successful completion of one year of courses at Duquesne University School of Pharmacy

128 credits minimum
