Program Description:
‘Theology’ means ‘God’ (Theos) and ‘reason/word’ (Logos). Students who minor in theology at St. Francis University will be challenged to seek the truth about God through critical reasoning and through attentive listening to the Word of God that is conveyed in Sacred Scripture, Sacred Tradition, and the book of nature. Theology minors can take courses on the Old and New Testaments, on moral and dogmatic theology, on the lives and writings of the saints, and on natural arguments for the existence of God. These courses give students the opportunity to explore the depths and riches of God’s being, wisdom and love.
Student Learning Outcomes:
(1) Demonstrate understanding of the nature, sources, principles and ends of the science of theology.
(2) Describe the fundamental content of salvation history as recorded in the Old and New Testaments.
(3) Explain the meaning, biblical basis, and coherence of the essential beliefs and practices of Catholic Christianity.
