Program Description

The program is an accelerated 30-credit online master’s program that develops transformational leaders, who are capable of positively influencing others and establishing respectful and productive organizational cultures, while guiding successful and sustainable long-term organizational strategies.  In many instances, current and aspiring leaders are seeking an educational opportunity that gives more attention to the development of soft management skills and new leadership perspectives. The nature of this program will make it attractive to working professionals, who work in public and non-profit organizations, such as in public administration, health care, higher education, and social services.

The Master of Arts in Strategic Leadership program consists of 8 required core courses, plus two elective courses drawn from any five of the following areas: executive leadership development, human resources, managing organizations and processes, healthcare management, and sports management.

Student Learning Outcomes

Program learning goals include:

  • Discover your preferred leadership style and further develop it.
  • Foster interpersonal and organizational communication skills.
  • Assess personal and organizational values and ethical decision making through the lens of servant leadership.
  • Become an analytical thinker by developing the critical thinking and problem solving skills necessary for assessing organizational opportunities and solving problems.
  • Develop a mindset for strategic thinking that is necessary for organizational growth and change.

Admission Requirements:

  • A minimum grade point average of 2.8 from an accredited university or college.
  • Completed online application;
  • Official transcripts;

Admission Deadline:

This program has rolling admission.

Progression Standards:

All students must maintain a 3.0 throughout their program of study. If a student falls below the 3.0 requirement, he/she may be academically dismissed or must repeat the course that lowered the overall QPA before continuing in the program.

Capstone Requirement:

Students in the MASL program are required to complete capstone requirements prior to graduation to demonstrate their understanding of the program’s material; these requirements include:

  • Completion of MASL 555
  • Completion of the Capstone Exam
  • Completion of Exit Survey

Graduation Requirements:

A candidate for graduation must satisfy the following requirements:

  • Complete all requirements for an approved program of study within 5 years of initial enrollment, including, but not limited to, the capstone requirements, exit exams, and surveys;
  • Complete the minimum number of credits as specified in this publication;
  • Achieve a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better;
  • Submit a completed Application for Degree form at least one semester prior to graduation date;
  • Satisfy financial obligations to the University.
