Program Description
The Minor in Supply Chain Management introduces students to the principles, processes, and technologies that drive the efficient movement of goods, services, and information across organizations. The minor is designed to help students understand how supply chains operate in a global environment and how organizations manage sourcing, production, logistics, and distribution to create value.
Students develop practical skills in demand forecasting, procurement, inventory management, and logistics planning. Coursework emphasizes data-informed decision making and the use of supply chain technologies to improve efficiency, responsiveness, and resilience. Students also examine how supply chain strategies impact organizational performance and explore current challenges such as disruption, sustainability, and global coordination.
The minor emphasizes applied learning, analytical thinking, operational effectiveness, and the ability to evaluate and improve supply chain performance in a variety of professional contexts.
Student Learning Outcomes
The Shields School of Business will graduate students who have the knowledge, skills, love of learning, confidence, drive, and ethical and moral values needed to be spiritually fulfilled in life and successful in professional careers. Upon completion of this program, students are able to:
- Demonstrate, in the Spirit of Saint Francis in the Marketplace, knowledge of the ethical value choices and responsibilities of businesses and business leaders.
- Demonstrate the ability to professionally communicate.
- Explain how global supply chains operate and how organizations manage sourcing, production, logistics, and distribution to create value.
