EDUC 576 - High Incidence Teaching Strategies

(3 credits)
The focus of this course is on understanding and delivering instruction to students with high incidence disabilities. Students will review the characteristics and educational implications of students with SLD, EBD, ADHD and mild intellectual disabilities. Students will receive instruction in the use of specific interventions in reading, math and writing as well as organization, social skills, memory and self-regulation. Evidence based interventions will be examined and utilized in a classroom setting as a component of the required field work experience. Emphasis is placed on The Strategic Instruction Model and the Self-Regulated Strategy Development (SRSD) model. Ten hours of clinical observation required.
