CPSC 140 - Fundamentals of Information Technology (3 credits) An overview of security challenges and strategies of countermeasure in the information systems environment. Topics include definition of terms, concepts, elements, and goals incorporating industry standards and practices with a focus on confidentiality, availability, and integrity aspects of information systems. In addition, students receive a hands-on introduction to topics fundamental to Information Technology such as virtualization technology; the basics of Computer Architecture, Operating Systems, with a particular emphasis on Linux, and networking concepts. The course has two recitation periods and one two-hour lab. Fall.
