ACCT 417 - Advanced Auditing and Assurance Services (3 credits) This course is designed to provide a foundation in financial statement auditing and introduce special topics related to the field of audit. The course covers the economic and social justifications for auditing; the connections between enterprise strategy, business processes, business risks, financial measures, and the audit; the role of internal control in auditing; the technical details of audit planning, testing and reporting; and the social responsibility of the auditor. This course delves into the pivotal challenge faced by investors, analysts, and the public in evaluating the quality of financial information disclosed by enterprises. It emphasizes the importance of trust in executives and management, and the critical role of high-quality information in effective decision-making. Students will explore how financial statement auditing serves as a vital tool to establish this trust and assurance, providing them with the skills to scrutinize and assess the integrity of financial reports. Prerequisite(s): ACCT 202 .
