THEO 330 - The Sacrifice of the Mass

(3 credits)
This course is a focused study on the history, theology, and liturgy of the Eucharist as both a sacrifice and a sacrament. Topics to be studied include: biblical and patristic foundations of Catholic belief in the Eucharist; the development of Magisterial teachings on the Eucharist; the history and meaning of the major Eucharistic liturgies within the Church today, namely, the Roman Rite (the Traditional Latin Mass and the Mass of St. Paul VI) and the Eastern Rites. As needed.
