PCT 102 - Foundations of Allied Health

(2 credits)
This course provides the student with an introduction to the principles of medical word building to develop the necessary medical vocabulary used in health care settings. Students study, analyze and interpret root words, prefixes, and suffixes with emphasis on spelling, pronunciation, definition and use of medical terms. As part of the learning process, students are exposed to basic anatomy, physiology, pathology of disease, and clinical procedures. Additionally, the use of electronic health records (EHR) and privacy of records is discussed.
