PCT 105 - Advanced Patient Care Skills

(5 credits)
In this course, students will study basic pharmacology, pathophysiology, and evaluation of conditions in patients. Positioning and transfer of patients will be covered. Additionally, the course focuses on various treatments and procedures the Patient Care Technician may provide including but not limited to patient-administered nebulizer treatments, enemas, ostomy care, oxygen therapy, peripheral IVs, and oral suctioning. The Patient Care Technician practices in pre-operative and post-operative care will also be addressed in this course.
