AVI 102 - Introduction to Aviation Systems

(3 credits)
This course provides students with foundational knowledge of aircraft systems, airport infrastructure, air traffic control systems, and aviation technology. Students will examine the basic principles of flight, aircraft components and systems, navigation equipment, communication systems, weather detection technology, and airport operations. The course emphasizes understanding how various aviation systems work together to ensure safe and efficient flight operations. Topics include aircraft powerplants, avionics, flight controls, landing systems, radar technology, and emerging aviation technologies such as satellite navigation and automated systems. Laboratory sessions and hands-on demonstrations enhance theoretical learning.  Prerequisites: AVI 101 Introduction to the Aviation Industry  or permission of instructor.
