AVI 320 - Aviation Safety Management

(3 credits)
This course provides students with comprehensive knowledge of aviation safety principles, risk management strategies, and safety management systems (SMS). Students will examine the evolution of aviation safety, accident causation models, human factors in aviation accidents, and systematic approaches to hazard identification and risk assessment. The course emphasizes practical application of safety management concepts through case studies of aviation accidents and incidents. Topics include safety culture development, regulatory safety requirements, safety performance monitoring, emergency response planning, and the implementation of SMS in various aviation organizations. Students will learn to analyze safety data, conduct risk assessments, and develop safety improvement recommendations.  Prerequisites: AVI 102 Introduction to Aviation Systems
