(4 credits)Under the supervision of the site preceptor, the student will function as a member of a health care team providing pre- and post-operative care. The student will evaluate acutely ill and potential surgical patients; identify surgical indications, contraindications, and potential complications; and assist with surgical procedures. Oral presentations and dictations of admission histories/discharge summaries will also be performed on a regular basis.
