MGMT 210 - The Macro-View of the United States Healthcare System (3 credits) This broad-based introduction the United States healthcare system course is intended to provide the knowledge concerning the nature and structure of the American healthcare system, including its various financing vehicles, health care delivery systems, and quality control mechanisms. Students are expected to gain an understanding of the various competing goals, priorities, and perspectives of the many participants or stakeholders in the health care arena, including financing entities, regulators, healthcare professionals, and patients. Students should be able to articulate arguments from the perspective of the various participants or stakeholders, and should be prepared to participate in informed public policy discussions regarding the development and regulation of the healthcare delivery system in the future. An examination of alternative healthcare systems from other nations will also be incorporated into this general introduction to the US Healthcare System course.
