The Professional Writing minor is designed to inculcate students with the abilities, tools, and desire to write effectively and efficiently for a variety of audiences, purposes, contexts, and media. Particular emphasis is given to coursework in professional writing studies and digital media studies.
Students who complete the Professional Writing minor will be able define and identify the qualities that distinguish effective from ineffective communication in oral, written, visual, and digital formats; emulate in their coursework the qualities of effective communication in these four formats; and demonstrate their ability to compose, revise, edit, proofread, and prepare materials in these formats for professional audiences.
