Program Description:

The Master of Human Resource Management program serves both the HR professional established in a career as well as those aspiring to enter the field. The program is career focused, comprehensive in scope and structured to meet the needs of working professionals as well as persons studying full-time to earn the degree. The MHRM program prepares new and experienced HR practitioners to meet the changing expectations of HR in shaping policy and practice as strategic partners. The curriculum is based on the professional body of knowledge defined by the Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI).

Student Learning Outcomes:

The Shields School of Business will graduate students who have the knowledge, skills, love

of learning, confidence, drive, and ethical and moral values needed to be spiritually

fulfilled in life and successful in professional careers. Upon completion of this program,

students are able to:

  • Students will demonstrate knowledge and competencies in the following functional areas of HR: the foundations of HRM; recruitment, selection, and retention; employment and labor law; compensation and benefits administration; performance management; and other content areas identified by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). 
  • Students will acquire effective professional skills, capabilities, and perspectives necessary for establishing and sustaining successful, productive careers in human resource management and related fields.   
  • Students will demonstrate the ability to professionally communicate. 
  • Students will display skills in strategic analysis and integration of HR.
  • Students will develop the ability to effectively work with a team of colleagues on a project.

The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) confirms that curriculum taught at Saint Francis University Master of Human Resource Management aligns with the recommended requirements for HR degree programs as outlined in the SHRM HR Curriculum Guidebook and Templates. Admission Requirements:

In order to be considered for admission, students must submit the following:

  • Completed online application;
  • Official transcript(s).

Acceptance to the program will not be extended until all of the admission materials, including official transcripts, have been received and reviewed by the Graduate Business Programs Director.

A letter of acceptance will be sent to students who have met admission requirements. Registration for the first courses will follow and be a collaborative endeavor between the students and their academic advisor.

Graduation Requirements:

A candidate for graduation must satisfy the following requirements:

  • Complete all requirements for an approved program of study within 5 years of initial enrollment, including, but not limited to, the capstone requirements, exit exams, and surveys;
  • Complete the minimum number of credits as specified in this publication;
  • Achieve a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better;
  • Submit a completed Application for Degree form at least one semester prior to graduation date;
  • Satisfy financial obligations to the University.

Capstone Requirement:

Students in the MHRM program are required to complete capstone requirements prior to graduation to demonstrate their understanding of the program’s material; these requirements include:

  • Completion of MHRM 550 Capstone Project Research Paper
  • Completion of MHRM Capstone Exam

30 credits
