BUSA 311 - Descriptive and Predictive Analytics for Business (3 credits) This business analytics course introduces the student to descriptive analytics and predictive analytics and their application in business. Topics include numerical, graphical, and tabular descriptive statistical techniques including charting and building tables for the presentation of information, calculating and interpreting measures of central location, variability, and relative standing. Further, probability and probability distributions (discrete and continuous) and sampling and sampling distributions are presented as foundational items to core predictive analytic techniques including regression, point and interval estimation, and hypothesis testing. Ethical considerations of analytics and the presentation of data will be considered throughout the course. Microsoft Excel is required and used extensively throughout the course.
