This seminar will study the health care delivery system as it relates to the practicing physical therapist. It will introduce concepts of traditional health care delivery in the United States as a foundation to the development of health care in response to changes in technology, funding, legal and social structures and policies. Students will be introduced to managed health care structures and basic elements of healthcare financing and reimbursement systems. Students will focus on current issues in health care practice, and will analyze the impact of current trends and issues, especially health care reform initiatives on delivery of physical therapy services.
