The Department of Military Science teaches leadership training that students can apply throughout their careers, no matter what their majors. Military Science activities stimulate self-discipline, develop responsibility, promote personal integrity, enhance the value of a liberal arts education, and develop leadership qualities. Coursework consists of one course each semester and a summer camp between sophomore and junior, or junior and senior, years. No formal commitment is necessary until after the sophomore year. All Military Science credits count toward graduation. Students that complete the program and graduate from Saint Francis University will earn a baccalaureate degree in their major concentration with a minor in Military Science, and can earn a commission as a second lieutenant and receive placement in one of twenty-four professional officer specialties in the U.S. Army including: Military Intelligence, Military Police, Signal, Medical Service (to include Nursing), the Corps of Engineers, the Finance Corps, the Adjutant General’s Corps, the Chemical Corps, and Psychological Operations.
