NURS 477 - Practice-Focused Nursing Care for the Professional RN

(4 credits: 3 credits theory; 1 credit clinical)

This course integrates knowledge for nursing practice into holistic person-centered care, based on needs and consideration of the determinants of health. The professional nurse, as a link between the patient and the complex health environment, provided compassionate care informed by a scientific base of knowledge, including current evidence from nursing research. With application to nursing and the sciences, students will epitomize the AACN roles of provider of care, designer, coordinator and manager of care, and members of the profession, within the context of person-centered care. Students will complete a 1-credit immersion experience in one of the four spheres of care; health promotion/disease prevention; chronic disease care; regenerative/restorative care; or hospice/palliative/supportive care.
