EDUC 275 - Early Pedagogy and Developmental Practices

(3 credits)
This course provides an overview of the field of early childhood, including historical and social foundations, developmental ages and stages, theories, program models, ethical and legal issues, professional growth, and collegial relations as well as home school partnerships. Emphasis is also on the teacher’s role, developmentally appropriate pedagogy skills including planning, delivering and instruction, assessment strategies, accommodations for special needs students, basic classroom management. Students will complete eight hours of field experience in an area school or educational setting. Required clearances will be needed to participate.
