The interdisciplinary Women’s Studies major is an opportunity for students to pursue their interests in diversity and to consider issues of social/political difference. Providing a concentrated area of study, the Women’s Studies major is a good choice of a second major for those contemplating careers in business, law, medicine, social work, or other human services professions. The Women’s Studies major consists of a total of 42 credits, 30 required credits and 12 elective credits, to be chosen from the SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, and VALUES options listed below.
Student Learning Outcomes:
- Through the SKILLS courses, students will learn the skills necessary for the consideration of women’s roles and positions in society.
- Through the KNOWLEDGE courses, students will gain a broader knowledge of the various foundational aspects of women’s roles and positions in society.
- Through the VALUES courses, students will learn to value the various contributions, roles, and positions of women in society.

Typically 4 years of full-time study
Capstone Requirement:
Students in the BA in Women’s Studies program are required to complete a capstone (CORE 407 or its equivalent) in a course emphasizing women’s issues or issues of gender equity to graduate from this program. Approval of the Women’s Studies program director is required (see Dr. Cadwallader).
