The Master of Health Science (MHSc) program is an online post-baccalaureate degree offered through Saint Francis University. The MHSc program is designed for professionals in the healthcare setting who wish to pursue graduate education to achieve professional or personal goals. The MHSc degree from Saint Francis University prepares students to assume leadership roles in the healthcare industry such as department directors, healthcare service administrators, health educators, lab/clinic managers, or healthcare policy directors. Students may complete a MHSc generalist degree or select a specialty track within the curriculum to provide focused coursework in one of three areas: clinical, health education, or leadership.

This 30-credit program is offered online via the Internet through the Blackboard learning management system. This program provides maximum flexibility for working health professionals to complete the program in approximately five semesters (18-24 months).

Admission Requirements

Applicants to the program must have graduated from an accredited institution, having obtained a bachelor’s degree. A cumulative QPA of 2.75* in the bachelor’s degree program is required for full acceptance into the MHSc program. Additional admission requirements include:

• Completed MHSc application (electronic)
• 1-2 page Statement of Purpose essay
• Two letters of reference
• Current resume/curriculum vitae
• Non-refundable application fee of $50
• Official undergraduate transcript(s)**
• A non-duplicated email address (a personal email address unique to each applicant)
• MHS applicants may be asked to participate in a telephone or Skype interview
• Access to a computer and reliable Internet service

* Applicants with an undergraduate cumulative GPA of 2.5 to 2.74 may be accepted to the MHSc program on a provisional basis.

** If undergraduate education has been obtained outside of the United States, an independent educational assessment may be required as part of the admissions process.

Admissions are done on a rolling cycle. Courses will be offered during Fall, Spring, and Summer sessions. Most MHSc courses are offered on an accelerated seven-week schedule. Scheduling of first courses will be a collaborative effort between new students and their academic advisor.

NOTE: Up to 6 advanced-level health science credits may be transferred for credit toward your MHSc degree. Students must submit a written request to the program director including the course to be transferred, the course syllabus, and the transcript verifying completion of the course under consideration.

Requirements for Degree Conferral

Students will qualify for the MHSc degree after completion of the 30-credit program of study with a minimum quality point average (QPA) of 2.8. In addition, students must maintain a grade of “C” or better in each of their individual courses. All program requirements must be completed within five years of enrollment.
